What are the best PANCE and PANRE board review books?

You can scan my complete list of reading recommendations or sign upwards for my reading list newsletter by clicking here.
1. Lange Q&A Dr. Assistant Examination, Seventh Edition
I have been practicing, primarily in family unit practise, for 14 years, and recently took and passed my PANRE exam for the 3rd time. Like most, I was nervous about the exam.
I believe that this book was 1 of the most helpful in guiding my studies. Also included in the latest edition is access to their companion online practice tests for the most thorough preparation possible.
The focus of the book is heavy on cardiology, just keep in heed that cardiology is 16% of the PANCE/PANRE exam (the highest percentage of any organ system) on the NCCPA Content Blueprint. The other advantage is that Dr. Diamond is a cardiologist, so his insights and "need to know" are right on.
I would highly recommend this book for anyone studying for the PANCE or PANRE. I spent two weeks head-downwardly in this book working through questions. I was non at all surprised to meet many of the same questions on the bodily examination. Beyond the questions though are reliable indicators of where to focus your attention. This was invaluable!

ii. Swanson'due south Family Medicine Review: Expert Consult - Online and Print
Pricey, simply worth its weight in gilded! My best-kept hugger-mugger.
Although this book is intended to cover all the pertinent topics you'll confront on your initial or recertification for Family Medicine, I find it invaluable when studying for the PANCE or PANRE exams.
I have used this for both the PANCE and PANRE, I went through the volume from start to end over three months, and towards the end would cover about 25 pages daily (which, if you lot know a lot of the answers and don't need to read the explanations goes quite chop-chop).
When I took my re-cert, I sat down with this book immediately afterwards exam completion to come across if I could jog my memory for test questions I was uncertain of. Many of the answers and topics covered were in this book.
I know it seems daunting but using this volume has placed me in the 90'th percentile three times for both the PANCE and PANRE. I cannot recommend it enough!

3. A Comprehensive Review for the Certification and Recertification Examinations for Dr. Assistants
This book is the gold standard when it comes to summarizing all the information you learned in PA school in less than 300 pages.
This particular volume is one of the most recommended by my peers. The author Claire O'Connell also just happens to be one of my favorite professors in PA Schoolhouse. It provides a proficient look at the breadth of topics that will be covered on the PANCE and PANRE and does an fantabulous job providing the accept-home points.
I learn better with clinical vignettes (the same way that you will run into on the bodily PANCE and PANRE), just if yous are meliorate at rote memorization, this book will probably help you quite a bit.
Despite its shortcomings in the realm of critical thinking, I still think it is essential in your armory for PANCE or PANRE preparation. Even looking at information technology now and thumbing through the pages I am impressed by the author's ability to practice such a great job summarizing complex topics.

4. PANCE Prep Pearls: A practical Comprehensive Study and Review Guide for the PANCE and PANRE
If y'all are reading this review, I can well-nigh guarantee that you take a copy of this book in your review volume armory. Referred to past many as the "PA Bible," I discover PANCE Prep Pearls to be a welcome addition to the lineup of comprehensive "blueprint-based" review books.
What separates this review book from others on this list (specifically A Comprehensive Review for the Certification and Recertification Examinations for Dr. Assistants) is its attending to detail, depth, quality of medical mnemonics, and infrequent photos. The material is presented sequentially and is informative without being overwhelming.
Written by Dwayne A Williams, a professor of physician assistant programs at 2 established universities, this study guide is formulated for physician assistant students and practitioners to increase cognition and retention of valuable clinical information.
The book'south comprehensible construction maximizes information retention with clear explanations of difficult topics. Visual learning is enhanced with such features equally bold and italicized essential information, easy-to-read tables, and graphs and charts that allow you to compare and dissimilarity topics commonly grouped together on exam questions. Clinical-correlation bullet points help connect related topics in different organ systems.

I appreciated the "you should know" tidbits, which are in a clear and straightforward format that help you to understand the physiology/pathology of WHY sure choices are correct.
I especially enjoyed the Essentials department, which has questions that have more than than one correct answer, which will aid to enhance your analytical thinking skills.
I take not personally used this volume for PANCE or PANRE prep, but it is worth a expect. It is recommended by several of my colleagues.

The Step 2 CK exam (CK stands for clinical noesis) is a calculator-based test administered by Prometric, Inc. It is a i-day examination with approximately 352 questions divided into eight 60-minute blocks of 44 questions each, administered in a unmarried nine-hour testing session. Students are besides required to have the Step two CS (clinical skills exam), which is a 1-day live examination in which students examine 12 standardized patients.
If the Step two CK exam sounds familiar to the PANCE and PANRE exam, it should come every bit no surprise. The NCCPA did not need to reinvent the wheel when creating the PANCE. Starting time Aid uses the USMLE content outline as information technology's the foundation for review.
Similar to other review books information technology breaks each topic downwardly by pathophysiology, history, diagnosis, and treatment. Along with these topics, you will notice a plethora of wonderful tables comparison grouped topics and mnemonics.
